CloseEgypt-based venture capital firm Foundation Ventures launched an early-stage fund. The firm is managed by Mazen Nadim, Omar Barakat, and Ziyad Hamdy, in partnership with US-based VC firm HOF Capital and Egypt-based private equity firm BPE Partners, according to wamda.com.
Strategy: Invest via pre-seed to Series A rounds in Egyptian startups.
Tel Aviv-based VentureIsrael launched a venture capital fund. The firm is managed by Michael Harte, former COO of Santander UK and Barclays; Roman Gold, Gadi Isaev and Alexander Zarankin of JSCapital, an Israeli investment platform; and Igor Turkin of Investment Management Group. The fund's final close is expected in the first half of 2021.
Strategy: Invest in Israel-based early stage deep-tech start-ups, particularly in the enterprise software segment.
Johannesburg-based Secha Capital Partners held a first close at USD 30m (ZAR 400m) for its second impact fund Secha Capital Impact, according to africaglobalfunds.com. The fund is targeting October 2021 for its final close.
Strategy: Invest up to ZAR 12m (USD 0.73m) to acquire significant minority equity stakes in established Southern African SMEs.
