Serge L. Lépine Managing Partner CABOT CAPITAL PARTNERS

Serge L. Lépine is originally from Montréal, Québec and has primarily been assuming regional and global investments responsibilities out of Canada, Asia and the Middle East.

Mr. Lépine established Cabot Capital Partners (CCP), a Singapore Regulated Fund Management Company to provide delegated investment management services to institutional investors and family offices seeking to develop exposure to Asia or manage and grow existing portfolios.  CCP is also developing niche PE and credit yielding strategies for Asia and North America respectively.

Previously, Mr. Lépine was the CEO of the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Investment Company (QADIC), a US $2 billion global investment platform that he led since its inception in 2013 with the support of SWFs from Qatar and Abu Dhabi.  Before relocating to Qatar to establish QADIC, Mr. Lépine was the Chief Investment Officer at a Bahrain SWF and prior to that worked successively at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC) to set up the co-investment and direct investment business units respectively.

Before moving to the Gulf region in 2004, Mr. Lépine had been based in Asia since 1996 establishing the initial private equity operations of the Caisse de Dépot et Placement du Québec (CDPQ).  

During his early career, Mr. Lépine worked in Montréal for CDPQ as well as other leading Canadian financial institutions, primarily in the areas of direct investments, mergers and acquisitions advisory and corporate finance. 

Huai Fong Chew Regional Lead for the East Asia & the Pacific PE Funds team INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION

Huai Fong is the Regional Lead for the East Asia & the Pacific PE Funds team of the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) where she is responsible for leading investments into funds in the region.

Prior to joining IFC, Huai Fong spent five years with Deutsche Investitions-Und Entwicklungsgesellschaft MBH (“DEG”) where she had a primary coverage of Southeast Asia. She led fund investments and co-investments in the region as well as managed a portfolio of funds through her Advisory Committee positions. Before DEG, Huai Fong was with UOB Venture Management where she did direct equity investments into growth stage companies in Southeast Asia and China.

Huai Fong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and in Economics (Honors and Dean’s list) from the Singapore Management University. She has also passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

Saifulbahri Hassan Senior Vice President KUMPULAN WANG PERSARAAN (DIPERBADANKAN) [“KWAP”]

Saifulbahri Hassan is a Senior Vice President with Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [“KWAP”], Malaysia’s largest public sector pension fund where he leads the Private Equity and Infrastructure investment efforts for the organisation.

Professionally, Saiful has early industry exposure in Information Technology and Electronics Manufacturing. The last 18 years of his career has been in private equity, venture capital and developmental finance. Prior to joining KWAP, he was the Vice President of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Ltd (MAVCAP), a venture capital firm.

Saiful obtained his degree in Economics from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA and his master’s degree in Management from the International Islamic University of Malaysia.

Wai Leng Leong Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific CDPQ

Wai Leng Leong has 30 years of work experience in the finance and banking sectors, including 13 years in China, where she built a commercial banking business from scratch. She has an excellent business network in China and in South-East Asia, including in Singapore. Over the course of her career, Wai Leng has worked in both the buy and the sell sides of the industry, in developed and developing financial markets.

She was previously Managing Director and Head of Business Management Unit at the Bank of Singapore, a wholly owned subsidiary of OCBC Bank. Before joining the Bank of Singapore, Wai Leng was the Chairman & CEO of OCBC Bank (China) Ltd. In 2010, she became the first banker from a non-Japanese Asian bank to win a Gold Magnolia Award, one of the highest recognitions from the Shanghai government. Perhaps most noteworthy was the fact it was the Chinese regulatory body, CBRC (Central Banking Regulatory Commission) of China who nominated her for this award.

She was also Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Institutional Bank at HSBC China. Previously, she held senior positions at multinational corporations such as Philips Electronics China Group, as well as at JP Morgan Bank and at Citibank, in Singapore.

Kelvin Mak-Lui Director FUTURE FUND

Kelvin is a Director at the Future Fund, Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, where he has responsibility for in excess of $22bn in assets invested in private equity and venture capital.  Prior to that he worked at Navis Capital Partners for 10 years, most recently as a Senior Investment Director in their Australian office.

Kelvin has over 13 years’ experience in the financial services sector and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (University Medal) from the University of New South Wales.  He is also a CFA charterholder and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Sunil Mishra Partner ADAMS STREET PARTNERS

Sunil Mishra specializes in the sourcing and execution of Asian investments ex-China, specifically in India, Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Korea.

Prior to joining Adams Street, Sunil worked for Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore performing financial and business analyses of local and regional companies. Previously, Sunil worked in India as an Investment and Strategy Associate in Tacogroup, the automotive technology and engineering investment arm of the Tata Group of India, where he worked on business planning, feasibility studies, and localization plans for new ventures.

Sunil manages relationships with several of Adams Street’s managers and sits on advisory boards of more than a dozen private equity firms within the Adams Street Partners portfolio.

Sunil is a member of Adams Street’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee.
